MOST HAUNTED
THE BEGINNING OF THE GHOST HUNTING CRAZE
The decidedly British TV show, with it’s dry wit and matter-of-fact approach to hunting ghosts is our first feature article..I thought it only fitting as it was essentially the first show of its kind. True, there were TV shows going all the way back to the 50s and 60s that covered the topic of the paranormal but there was really nothing like this before–a show dedicated to catching proof of the existence of ghosts. It premiered in 2002 and has had good legs to this day. I can’t really say definitively what I think of this show, other than I respect it for starting a brand of television.

a tad structured and predictable
Like I’d said, its a British show. The English aren’t known for making intriguing television, or film for that matter, with a few exceptions. I don’t mean to disrespect but about the only shows that come to mind as exceptional are Dr. Who and Top Gear. I find Most Haunted a bit boring, quite frankly, as an American I like my content a bit more intriguing and full of life. However, at the same time I’ll give them credit for authenticity and originality. To me, American producers found a way to make some shows with more interesting content and as typical Americans found a way to make something better much worse. They’ve taken this genre of show and brought it full circle to ‘Reality TV’..in other words, most ghost hunting shows that are new are technically scripted and so full of crap I can’t stand to watch them. As a true believer in the Paranormal, this bothers me.
in conclusion..fake or real?
No question..as real as it gets.
No matter what you think of the quality of programming, believe in the proof that is presented. I can only tell you that I have an insiders view of Reality Shows..I have a close relative who has their own reality show, a highly successful one. They’ve changed greatly in nature and are mostly scripted shows..they get around paying SAG rates by not writing the scripts down, but by having directors guide them. Each episode is planned.
That said..it’s fine. TV is entertainment after all. But there are truths in some shows, it’s not all fake. I will expound on what I believe is trustworthy..feel free to contradict me in the blog. I love healthy debates!
Until next time..sit tight. 🙂
